James Harvitt serves as Lead Instructor.  He is an American Heart Association BLS Instructor including First Aid, CPR, and emergency use of an AED.  Jim is ACLS certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and was Valedictorian of his EMT program.  He is currently licensed in Illinois to provide emergency medical services.

In 2006, Jim was trained and certified as a Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning Instructor by the Illinois State Board of Education in concert with the Illinois Terrorism Task Force.  Jim is qualified to conduct orientation sessions, in-service training workshops, and provide technical assistance in developing emergency and crises response plans based upon FEMA’s National Curriculum. 

      

In 2000, Jim completed Advanced Clinical Training in Mind/Body Medicine at Harvard Medical School Mind/Body Medical Institute under the direction of cardiologist Herbert Benson, M.D.   

At LightCare Medical Spa in Chicago, Jim practices integrative medicine in association with emergency room physician Michael D. Green, M.D.  For Pure Med Spa at 840 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Jim serves as Director of Holistic Medicine.  Jim's practice includes anti-aging medicine, acupuncture, medical massage and other modalities that have been scientifically proven to promote healing through the mind/body connection.

Prior to entering private practice, Jim served as senior vice president for government, healthcare, and education at Clayton Brown & Associates in Chicago.  He holds an MBA degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.  Jim served as a Chicago inner city hospital trustee for almost 10 years.
