Experts now recommend hands-only CPR
You can skip the mouth-to-mouth breathing and just press on the chest to save a life.  In a major change, the American Heart Association said Monday that hand-only CPR -- rapid, deep presses on the victim's chest until help arrives -- works just as well as standard CPR for sudden cardiac arrest in adutls.

Statement addresses risks of high blood sugar in heart patients
The American Heart Association is calling for a coordinated national effort to address the effects of hyperglycemia, also known as high blood sugar, on people with heart disease. “Hyperglycemia and Acute Coronary Syndrome,” a scientific statement published in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association, highlights many unanswered questions surrounding hyperglycemia in patients hospitalized with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), which includes a variety of conditions including heart attack.  Complete Article>

Suit alleges Bally Fitness was negligent for not having a defibrillator

Never Too Young to Learn About CPR
When Natalie's 5th grade class was assigned to make a "How to" presentation, students chose topics like "How to groom a horse" and "How to make chocolate chip cookies." With the help of the American Heart Association's "CPR in a box" toolkit, Natalie taught her fellow students the basics of CPR, complete with props like a cell phone to call 9-1-1 and a mini-resuscitation Annie mannequin.
